Mrs. Pritpal Singh established the school in 1979. She started with Shimla Public School in 1977 and worked there exclusively for many years after leading the junior section at Bishop Cotton School for 13 years. Her long hours and unwavering passion were the reason SPS was acknowledged as one of Shimla's top few boarding schools.In its early years, Shimla Public School was a nursery school. Every year, a new class was added, parental pressure mounted, and the school's prominence spread to the public with each session. The school became affiliated with the Indian School Certificate Examination Council, located in New Delhi, in 1986. In 1990, the first class of I.C.S.E. students was admitted.
Shimla Public School is my home, and it's my dream to make it a home for all the kids who come here. Our school is happy and I'm proud to say that we have a very good reputation. This, of course, is due to the concerted effort of the staff of the School and Hostel, to whom I would say, 'Well done and keep a good job up.'
The previous academic year easily passed the time halls, but not without having big pauses at the foundations of excellence. We have made great strides in academia, athletics, drama, robotics and other fields with God's blessings of abundant grace, the team spirit of the workers and modern technology.
Although keeping pace with modern technology, SPS has remained true to the spirit of education, and this is abundantly evident from the success of the students at the annual assessments of ISC, CBSE and School. Many of our students have excelled in many areas, while others have experienced a new sense of learning and have made tremendous progress at their own pace. More importantly, our students strive to be decent human beings. Pupils are taught at SPS how to better 'bring life to years'!
As Director of this organization, it is my pleasure to revolutionize every pupil's learning experience here!
In a household, laughter and sunshine contribute to an effortless understanding. For the other family named The School, this is just as real. We don't have to wait for the light and the sun to come to us. Let all of us step towards the sun.
